Isabella

About 4 weeks ago I started obedience training with Isabella – a 3 month old *Australian Shepherd

Because she is a very young puppy and fond of treats I have been using the “Lure and Reward” method of training. This method uses a treat to Lure a puppy into position and then Reward the puppy after he demonstrates the desired behavior. This method is usually easy and pleasant for both dogs and owners.

Throughout her training, Isabella has been learning a lot:

She already knows “Walking on a Loose Leash”, “Look”, “Come”, “Place”, How to retrieve, “Sit and Stay”, “Down and Stay” – and even knows the last two commands from distance as well.

Isabella has also learnt a few tricks – such as “Give me a five”, “Crawl”, “Roll over” and “Ring the Bell”.

Isabella is doing very well because her patents practice regularly with her.

*The breed is an energetic dog that requires exercise and enjoys working, whether it is learning and practicing tricks, competing in dog agility, or any other physically and mentally involving activity.

The Australian shepherd is intelligent, learns quickly, and loves to play. This means that a bored, neglected, unexercised puppy will invent its own games, activities, and jobs, which to a busy owner might appear to be hyperactivity.

They are known for digging holes, tearing up lawns, and chewing anything in sight if they become restless. These dogs require a minimum of 2-3 hours a day of play and exercise and need constant attention.
