Christmas Dogs and Safety
Christmas is a magical time of the year.
Dogs like their daily routine and the holiday season can be a very stressful time for them. At this time the home poses an array of holiday hazards for the pets.
Some safety tips for pet owners:
Christmas tree& plants

Christmas Trees and Plants
Secure the Christmas tree. (Anchor to a wall ore ceiling, use playpen to restrict area around the tree.)
Keep holiday plants out of a dog’s reach. Pick up any leaves, blooms, and berries that have fallen.
Decorations

Christmas decorations
Hang breakable ornaments high on the tree out of a dog’s reach.
Hide electrical light cords at the back of the tree to prevent from chewing them and possibly being electrocuted.
Christmas food

Christmas Food
Candy, cookies, cakes, peppermints and especially chocolate (toxic) are not a dogs treats.
Eating the skin and fat from turkeys or hams can cause stomach upset.
Bones, ribs and chops can cause choking and life threatening obstructions.
