This is the second week I am doing obedience training with two year old Golden Retriever Rosie.

She is a darling!

Very gentle, smart, a good temperament, and she loves all people and dogs.

Rosie lives with Mom who is former teacher still working part time at a supermarket. Mom also has another Golden Retriever who is 7 now.

When Rosie was a puppy she went to Puppy classes. Now her Mom has decided to refresh Rosie’s training and prepare her for the AKC Canine Good Citizen test.

To pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, a dog is assessed on:

Test Item 1.              Accepting a friendly stranger

Test Item 2.              Appearance and grooming

Test Item 3.              Sitting politely for petting

Test Item 4.              Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead)

Test Item 5.              Walking through a crowd

Test Item 6.              Sit and down on command – staying in place

Test Item 7.              Coming when called

Test Item 8.              Reaction to another dog

Test Item 9.              Reaction to distraction

Test Item 10.                      Supervised separation
